With telecommunications and Internet access available to a large populous, the need to ensure security of data transmission is essential. Most communication protocols have security measures built-in to ensure this.

Internet Security Protocols

  • SSL - Secure Sockets Layer
  • TLS - Transport Layer Security
  • IPSec - IP Security

Security in Wireless LANs

  • WEP- Wired Equivalent Privacy; used in Wireless LANs
  • WPA / WPA2 - Wi-Fi Protected Access

Telecommunication Security Protocols

  • WTLS - Wireless TLS; used in WAP Version 1
